Eight tips to bidding on click engine pay per search that will help you get the most out of your advertising Budget!

  • Find out what you can afford to bid

Don't spend more than you can afford! Plenty of businesses make this mistake over and over. Before you pay for any type of advertising, you will need to calculate the value of a single visitor to your website. You need to know what one visitor is worth to your website and than and only than will you know the maximum amount you can afford to spend on click engine pay per search.

Here's an Example of How You Calculate the Value of a Visitor to Your Website.

Once, you've collected the statistics and figures you need, doing the actual calculations is the easy part. Simply plug the numbers into the following 3 Simple Formulas:

    A) Conversion Rate: Figure out how many unique visitors you need to close one sale.

Unique Visitors / Total Number of Sales = Conversion Rate

Example: If over the month of November, you calculate that your web site received 5,000 unique visitors, and you sold 25 widgets, your equation would look like this:

    5,000 Unique Visitors / 25 Sales = 122.8 Unique Visitors Per Sale

So in this case, your conversion rate would equal 125.0, which means that you typically close 1 sale for every 125.0 visitors to your site.

    B) Net Profit Per Sale: Figure out how much profit you earn on a single sale.

Gross Revenue - Total Expenses / Total Number of Sales = Net Profit Per Sale

Example: If over the month of November, you sold 25 widgets for $87 each, your gross revenue would be $2,175 (25 X $87). And let's say you calculated your total expenses (production, packaging, web host fees, etc...) for the month of January to be $1,337.

    This means that:

    $2,175 Gross Revenue - $1,337 Total Expenses / 25 Sales = $33.52 Net Profit Per Sale

In this example, your Net Profit Per Sale would be $33.52. This is "in your pocket, after expenses, you can bank it" profits.

    C) Visitor Worth: Figure out how much a single visitor is worth to you.

Net Profit Per Sale / Conversion Rate = Visitor Worth

Example: This is the easy part. Just take the Net Profit Per Sale that we calculated in part b ($33.52) and divide it by the Conversion Rate that we calculated in part a.

    $33.52 Net Profit Per Sale / 125.0 Conversion Rate = $0.2682 or $0.26

So in this example, each visitor to your web site is worth $0.26. (Not to be confused with the value of a customer, which is $33.52!) This means that you can afford to pay as much as $0.26 to attract one new visitor to your web site without losing money.

  • Bidding for Number One" isn't always the best strategy!

You don't always need to be ranked #1 for your keywords to attract targeted visitors. Sure, it helps if your ad is listed in the top 10 results. But people will click on ads that are listed on the second and even third page of results for competitive keywords.YOu can always test to see what works for you. You can always test your bids to range from higher to lower bids. Your results may show that a lower bid is more profitable.

  • Bidding on lowcost and common misspellings keywords.

Frequently, you will see businesses bidding the most poplar keywords for as much as $4.00 a click, mean while nobody is bidding on common misspellings and similar keywords that cost just pennies per click!

Use Site Build It and Wordtracker to find keywords that relates to your business and are frequently searched by your tartget niche market, but not by your competitons.

  • Bid on highly targeted keyword phrases that has less traffic

Instead of bidding on "general" keywords, which will be more expensive because they get the highest number of searches, bidding on hundreds of highly "targeted" keywords, which are cheaper.

AN example, instead of bidding on "tires," you might bid on "cheap discount tires,"

You'll see better sales conversions on the more targeted keywords because they attract more qualified buyers. And since no one is bidding on these keywords, your advertising costs along with the traffic is extremely low!

Another benefit of this strategy is that you are directing qualified visitors to a page that gives them exactly what they are searching for.

  • Bidding on keywords with the lesser-known click engine pay per search.

Yahoo Search Marketing and Findwhat are the pay per click search engines industry leaders, but some of the smaller PPC search engines are worth checking out as well.

Please check out the list below for the most popular click engine pay per search:

These click engine pay per search will not generate the same exposure you would get with Overture and Findwhat, but you will generate a small Traffic Jam with them. The best thing about them, is they're much cheaper!

  • You will need to create separate ads for each product or service you promote.

It is extremely important that create your ads specific to each keyword and phrase you are bidding on. Most businesses fail to element this effective strategy.

An example, would be if your keyword phase is "fastasy basketball," then you would write an adfor "fastasy basketball," fastasy football, and so on.

Customizing your ads will attract more visitors (and more clicks!) from qualified buyers. This will help you to convert more of these visitors into buyers and if you direct them to a page on your website with the exact product or service that they're searching for.

  • Get listed in relevant specialty click engine pay per search

Some of the bid management program will let you "cap" your bid so that you never spend more than you want too. The programs will also, drop "Bidding Gaps" which will occur when a bidder below you drop their bid. Your bid is automatically reduced so that you keep your position without spending a click more than neccessary.

Site Build It is a complete automated all in one system that I use myself to create your own web site opitimization web site design, with hosting, email, search engine submissions & positioning, that has a built in Bid Management Software Program for click engine pay per search.

There fate of second tiers looks doom. They have two critical, problems...

1) They are unable to generate enough a traffic Jam at their sites.

2) They are unable to protect themselves from click fraud. Click fraud is a huge problem. Yahoo and Google, has the money to come up with a solution to this problem.

Yahoo Search Marketing and Google AdWords are "first tier" of the PPC search engines.

Yahoo Search Markeking will try to "advise" you to bid in the Top 2 or 3 on the keyword that you are submitting. But these postion can be very expensive, and also may generate a lowerConversion Rates since they are perceived as ads.
